Out of 41 eggs, looks like 22 have made it to lockdown starting tomorrow night. So, I now need some information on my very first lockdown! I will be putting sponges and things in the incubator to get the humidity up, but how do I get water in it (LG Still Air) without opening it? There are the holes on the top, but they are only in two places and I wanted to spread out the sponges.

The other issue is that I'll be gone a lot of the weekend due to work issues.

I have a friend willing to check on things for me, how often should I ask him to go check? He literally lives 5 minutes away and is locking down tonight on his, so at least we are doing this together!!!

I'm hoping to have a bunch of chicks by the end of this weekend!!!!!

I just hatched chicks this past weekend and I have another batch that went into lockdown last night. This time I am making sure that the vent hole is directly above the 2 main water wells. I stuck a drinking straw through the vent hole and added water by squirting warm water through the straw, with a little syringe (the kind for giving infants and toddlers medicines), but I had to maneuver it to fit the right spot. This time will be easier.

The other thing to remember is to keep your camera handy and make sure the batteries are charged....

I have the same incubator and I keep it in my basement bathroom. During lockdown I do the same thing - I pour water through a straw into the water trays. I don't have sponges in mine, but I'm thinking about starting the shower for a few minutes because I'm on day 22 right now and only rocking started today (although I think I heard a peep). That will help keep the moisture in.
