I miscalculated! Today is Day 17 but still no peepers! I can't stand this suspense waiting for them anymore! Come out!

Lots of tapping, 5 eggs that are almost pipped and one that has pipped his little beak out.
He's been there with his little beak peeking out since 3 am. Once they pip their beaks through, how long does it usually take to hatch. I hope he's just resting and nothing's wrong. They're on day 18.

It can take as many 30 hours for the little guy to get his circulation going enough to break out. The struggle to get out of the shell is how they get blood flowing to all extremities. Sometimes they just breath through that first hole for a good long time before they finish zipping. If you decide to help any out (not recommended) wait at least 24 hours so that hopefully the yolk is all absorbed. That's also another important part of the hatch is the chick completely absorbing the yolk before it leaves the egg. It's a little bit Darwin but if they can't make it out of the shell something else is usually wrong.

They are hatching!!!!! So far 10 of them!!!! So excited!!! 2 more are working their way out. I think the one who pipped first died. I haven't seen his beak move in several hours.

Be sure to leave the non hatched eggs in the bator till day 20 or 21 in case they are slow starters.
