I placed my eggs on lockdown today. We plan on having chirping babies this weekend. I had 3 that were non-starters. Looks like I have about 8 quitters. I'm not going to take them till I'm sure. Of all goes well I will have about 20 little BOs. The best part I shows my daughter, whose expecting, and wife the movement. They were so excited. So am I. What kind of success rate does every one else have?

If your eggs are rocking about already then things are looking good for your hatch!

Hatch rates vary depending on loads of things. Shipped eggs almost always do a lot worse than non shipped eggs. Some breeds don't seem to be as strong as others. Some incubators are much better than others. And of course some people are better at it than others. My own hatch rates have varied from 0/12 on shipped eggs to 5/6 on my own hens' eggs. The one thing that has improved my hatch rates immensely is learning NOT to interfere with the eggs during lockdown and hatching...
