LOCKDOWN!!

So we've got two! When will these little guys be dry and fluffy? And when should I start seeing more pips? We're on day 20. (Also, the incubator was open for about a second to take this picture and it's very hot and humid here in Kansas lol)

Congrats!! My chicks don't get dry and fluffy until they've been in the brooder under the brooder light for a few hours. As for the pips, you never know, and since you are only on day 20, you have plenty of time for more action before it's time to worry.

Should I take them out of the incubator while none of the other chicks have pipped?

That's a totally personal decision. I remove mine as they hatch and become active. Some people won't even open the bator until the hatch is completely done. Whatever you are comfortable with (as long as your humidity is up). A lot of people will argue the hatchers will help motivate the others, and this is completely true...that's why I play a video of chicks cheeping at the bator...lol

So I put them in the brooder and they're panting? Are they hot or just exhausted? And also could someone send a link to a video I could play for the chicks still in the incubator?

If they are panting they are too hot. Do you have water in the brooder for them and is you light or heat source on one end so they can move to a cooler spot of the brooder? The brooder shouldn't be more than 95-100F under the light.

I'm glad I'm not the only one to play chick video's for my babies. I let them hang out until they are about an hour or two old then remove them. They start playing "football" with the other eggs and it makes me nervous.
Best motivator there is. As soon as they start zipping, I start the video and they usually are out w/in 15 minutes....lol And it reassures me that they are still alive when they've only pipped. Once they hear that cheeping their little beak starts moving at the pip. I used to let them start to dry before I moved them, but I had a acouple stretch out under the fan and get hurt because teh fan has no guard/cover, so I started pulling them once they started becoming active in there.

I raised the lamp and they're fine now :) thanks for the video! Hoping for some pips!

Follow up on the chicks; here they are all fluffy and dry! We got a black and a partridge. None of the others have hatched yet :( but it's only day 21 so I have a bit of hope. I candled the eggs because there were no pips and I read that it would be ok. There were no internal pips and no movement.. :( should I be worried? Have they died?

(Here are some pictures of the babies!)
