Locked Down-Vanilla Pics - last Pics

This morning - Vanilla was fine. Eggs were fine. Did some chores came in to wash my hands and warm them. Cat was going bonkers, always a good sign when a hatch is due.

Sure enough I looked and Vanilla's buds are popping out to come and play. 2 really dark ones, 1 gold, 1 looks like a Jumbo brown. Let me look again. No. Thats it for now. Well I best go clean the quail pen trays now, cause I'm not going to want to later.

So far the Grand Total including Vanilla is:
1 little, 2 little, 3 little quailies,
4 little, 5 little, 6 little qualies,

Fawn and white are getting easy to mix together nowadays

Cinnamon is just a description, Fawn is the correct name.

I don't think I have one yet. But I do have a Range, I think. Its dark, and has really dark feet, but it has light on sides of face only. Maybe tonight after they have dried off you can tell me if its a Rosetta or something else. I'll probably take them to the brooder around 9 tonight and snap a few pics, if nobody else is popping then.

The other dark ones look like Jumbo Browns, not to exciting around here, seeing that I have 34 more (JB & M. Gold) in there to hatch a little later. Hopefully.

So far the Grand Total including Vanilla is:
1 little, 2 little, 3 little quailies,
4 little, 5 little, 6 little quailies,

I took them out early. Humidity dropped had to open it to add a wet Swifty sheet again today. So took the op to send them to brooder. HUNGRY I am going to have to grind more FOOD. My but these little ones can put it away.

Now here is maybe my Baby Range. Hype (cause he is Hyper too, even more than Vanilla)

Note that Vanilla's top shadow looks more red than any other color.
Well ok, he could be Hype or Flash or...

Edited to add that there are 6 total + 1 of my eggs hatched an hour ago. Tomorrow afternoon starts day 18 and I hope that will bring the rest of them out to play. Humidity here is like 25%, really dry for this area.

Exhausted last night, me not the babies, and just crashed.
Woke up to 24 of my babies hatched I moved them to brooder. Humidity was down in 50's. Pumped that up then went out and did chores. More pipping.

I closed lid on brooder and I use a piece of card board to cover larger end the first few days. Well I left it under light when I went to do chores. I did have the bathroom light on though. I came back in and found them huddling. Whipped that light down to top of brooder. Let them warm a bit and snapped a few pics. Let me get some Coffee in me then I'll show you. I am still tired, I guess. All babies are fine.

Here's the Huddle and you can see I have a couple little Males getting ready to pass the football.

I have 1 more Manchurian Gold so far. Can you tell they are my favorites for now.

Ok, I have 9 more eggs to hatch, if I haven't lost count. I have 1 in the bator now that is dark, don't see stripes yet and it is from my eggs. Might just need to dry out some more. Jumbo Browns and Jumbo M. Golds.

But I have questions. I don't expect all of my eggs to hatch. Because of the lethal M. Gold. My Jumbo Browns have a lot of gold in them. These eggs were collected from a communal cage set up. 1/3 J. M. Golds 2/3 J. Brown females. All males were J. Browns. 35 eggs set. 1 I know did not develop fully and I pitched it when the electric came back on, a hole in the shell showed.

Should I expect more than 25% not to hatch due to lethal gene?? I am thinking 3 -4 eggs will not hatch due to this. For this size hatch.

I always open the eggs after the hatch so I will have a better idea of the reason for problems. But I think I am asking if I should expect eggs from the golds if they would have been browns can I expect them not to hatch also? Or is it just what would have been golds?

Also, because I know that my J. Browns carry a lot of recessive gold, should I expect the 12.5% lethal with them, also? Can I ever dilute the gold enough to discount it?

Obviously I am trying to understand the M. Golds better and understand what to expect with future hatch rates if I add a few of the Males that I have now at 6 weeks old. Cause them is some pretty boys.

And I really like one that has gold cheeks.

edited to add: 8 more, a M. Gold just hatched. Now I have 3.

Golden is dominant over brown, you shouldn't have any browns 'carrying' gold. You also shouldn't have a problem with lethals if all your males are brown, that is only with breeding gold to gold. Think of it like this: We'll use 'G' to represent gold and 'b' to represent brown. So breeding gold to gold you have Gb to Gb. From this breeding, 25% will be GG, 25% will be bb, and 50% will be Gb. The GG babies are the lethal genes, the bb babies are the ones that hatch out looking brown, and the Gb babies will look golden.
