Locks of Love

My Mom donated in memory of her mom. My grandmother, Mary, died of cancer in 1981. I will donate my hair to the cause because my boyfriend is a liver transplant recipient because of cancer in his liver.

My hair was as long as Katy's several years ago. It makes me sick that I didn't know about Locks of Love then. I had it cut off to shoulder length..... And threw it all away.....

If anyone is looking for somewhere that will take small lengths and damaged hair, check out www.matteroftrust.org/ - they make absorbent mats and booms for containing oil spills. Something that is very much needed in the Gulf of Mexico right now!

Wonderful gesture Terrie, very sorry about the loss of your Mom. I miss mine, too.

As you probably know, I wanted to make a donation to a good cause last November, and had no money. But I did send 12"+ of hair to Locks of Love and was glad to do it.

Mines's gotten annoyingly long again- I am tempted to take the scissors to it in this heat and humidity! (yes, the good sewing scissors Mom gave me........ )

ranchy hauls butt before Terrie gets her for abuse of fabric only scissors.................

Locks of Love is for both. I know some people won't donate because LoL sometimes sells hair - but they sell the hair they can't use, because it's too short, colored or too dry, gray, etc. and that money helps fund the making of the wigs.

Pantene also has a program called Beautiful Lengths. The donation goes to making wigs for women undergoing cancer treatments. The minimum donation is 8 inches. I donated 11 inches to them.

My daughter donated her hair after high school. My dad died of cancer and his death is what convinced my daughter to become a radiation therapist. She was one of twelve that were accepted into Oklahoma University Health And Science Center. She is now lead therapist at the cancer center she is employed at. I am so proud of her, and all of her efforts to help people with cancer. I hope in some way my dad knows what inspiration he provided his granddaughter.

Thank you to all who donate hair to help cancer patients.

Good on your daughter, every reason to be proud of her! Please send my thanks her way.

My husband used to have lllooonnnggg hair, longer than mine by about 4 inches. He decided he was tired of washing and brushing it, so he went in to get it cut and donated it to Locks of Love. 20 inches.
