My year old hen has an injury to her left side... kinda bottom of the breast. I've taken a pic but just figured out it was after the peroxide was put on. I cleaned it out as well as I could, put some antibiotic spray on it... wrapped her middle with a bandana and placed her in isolation with food and some water with VetRX in it for good measure. Should I do anything else? It's only on one side and I can't tell what type of injury it is but it was still seeping some when I cleaned it. Thanks so much for your help!

Aw Poor Lois. It looks like it didn't hit anything major just some meaty areas. I think Lois will be ok just keep the wound clean and it should heal nicely.. I am going through something similar with my girl Corazon.. Her wound scabbed over for the most part and now the scab is starting to separate and the skin is regrowing under it nicely..I only used sugar that I made into a paste to prevent infection and to pull out any infection she may have had. I try to stick with natural remedies whenever possible. I hope Lois feels better soon. It looks like you are doing great already!!

So you made a paste with sugar and water? Never heard of that! But I'll be doing it at lunch time! Thanks so much for the words of encouragement! Lois was my very first peep out of my crew and I'm very attached to her.

Yes, I did. I put a few tablespoons of sugar into my palm and then just sprinkle a little water in and mix it around until I have a paste and then just scoop some onto my finger and kind of just rub it over the wound. I did this 2 day in a row and then let it be and it scabbed over nicely. I totally understand your love for Lois. It's hard to see stuff like this happen to little ones we grow so attached to. Let me know how she does.

Lois is back in the coop - the wound did indeed scab over nicely. She spends most of her time on the roost since I've got a randy roo who won't leave anything that moves alone. :-)
