I have an almost 6 week old chick ( I lost her sibling last week) that has been brooded inside the house with her Mama. Mama is a house chicken in the winter due to feathering issues. I'm not sure what to do with the chick when it comes time to be away from Mama. The outside flock free ranges and I hate to just stick this little thing outside on its own to fend for itself.

Should I hatch a few more chicks to hang with her or just make this little girl a house chicken for the winter, or at least a few more months till she is much bigger? She appears to be a Bantam Cochin/Bantam WC Black Polish cross. This is what she most likely will look like when she gets older. (this would be her full brother)

I would keep her inside for the winter. Maybe train her to be a house chicken too! That would be likely what I would do. She has company inside with your other house chicken. What ever you decide I wish you the best and hope it all works out well.
