Greetings,

We have had some drama in the duck coup. It's a very long story, but to sum things up, we have a lonely duck with out a friend, and a flock of 6 ducks that all bully her. I have tried many different things like isolating one of the flock with her and then gradually integrating her with the main flock, but I have had no success. I would appreciate any feed back on what I could do to integrate her with the flock.

She is a female muscovy duck, and she is brown whereas the other ducks are not. She did not grow up with the other ducks, but they have been together in the yard for about two months now.

Were the other ducks there first? Maybe try putting her and one by one of the others inside a pen so they have a chance to bond once you see it in one with her add another until you have all of them together. When my old Muscovy drake died he had one female left she had never been with the other Muscovy because my other drakes would pick on my old drake so when I had her in the rest the pretty much let her know she wasn’t part of their group. The drake was the worst he would run her off every time she came around. It took a good 6 months before she was totally accepted now she is just one of the family so maybe give it more time. Are they actually picking on her like pulling feathers out not letting her eat?

How many males and females do you have? I used to have 2 males and 2 females and the female at the bottom of the pack was raped and isolated and just wasn’t thriving. So I got two more females and all the issues went away because I had the proper drake to hen ratio which I did not have before.
