Still no sign of mom goose. Looked all over for her. Will he find a new mate? How do you know if he's depressed over it?

OK, not to seem harsh, but how do you know that it isn't "him" missing vice "her"? Those goslings look old enough to fend for themselves or will be shortly. It is purported that geese mate for life and are monogamous. There have been some scientific arguments debating that fact in recent years. In either case, it matters not. He or she will, or will not, pair up with another of the opposite sex at some point for next season. Typically the offspring will return to the same general area of their birth to breed in future years so you may see them all (or whomever survives that long) back next year.

On the subject of his/her potential depression over the loss of a partner, in the wild, unlike in our domesticated backyard flocks, they have little time to dwell on the loss of a partner... The "kids" still need to be cared for and there are always predators looking for a meal of fresh killed goose. Depression could easily lead to death.

You can’t personify animals. They are completely different from us. I think it’s best you let nature run it’s course and stop obsessing. Surely you have other animals to tend to? Let the geese be... they are overpopulated and a nuisance bird in most areas anyways.

First of all they are not a nuisance! And second of all I am not obsessing! I just love those animal's and always will! I love all animals. And maybe people should look more into these animals because they actually have a back story. They're all about raising their young and living their life just like any other wild animal! I just think theyre inspiring animals then just a damn nuisance!

... and sometimes they abandon and kill their own young, like many other animals in the wild. Maybe we don’t want to take too much from them. Animals are animals. They are different from us.
And geese have been considered nuisance bird for a long time since they poop on everything. I didn’t invent that. And that's a lie I have never heard of them killing their own young! Maybe young that's not theirs but they would never do that! They are very loyal animals! How rude

I agree I think it's a shame that a Canada goose is consider a nuisance same with Muscovy Ducks they have been here a lot longer than us we moved in to their territory by building along lakes and water ways then they are considered nuisances and people want to get rid of them. Very sad. In the state of Florida Muscovy's are killed for no other reason that they exist. I am sure Canada geese are most likely treated the same.
