Lonely single chick

Why can't you feed him chick crumb? It's sold at nearly all feed stores and won't be as dusty. Lots of people would love to add him to their batch of chicks, he doesn't need to be a specific age. He isn't fully feathered, he looks around 7 days old, my Welsummer are 6 days and they have their wing feathers. I think they have hatchery stores in America? Couldn't you buy him a friend? They sound very cheap to purchase there

Unfortunately I cannot.

I feed him feed but the ones i have are very large in size thus I have to manually grind them
I read a thread about using a mirror, it partially works with my chick.
He is very smart and knows his way around places. He is not fooled by stuffed animals.

also I live in asia not america

Yes that chick looks to be 2 weeks or less. Is not fully feathered out so wants to receive supplemental heat that its mother would naturally provide. I would be offering it 90 degrees as a minimum and would like to say no to the "it was born here it is used to these temperatures" at that age theory. That is like bringing a newborn child home and leaving it out on the front porch just because it was born here and thinking its physical needs are met.

Yes, I know that chicks dont stay cute, Im trying to rear him until he is ready to be sent to a farm
Thank you for providing the photos, I do wish you the best and when it screams I would suggest picking it up for warmth/companionship. In 2 weeks your chick will be feathered out enough where there are no temperature concerns and I am betting you will manage to get it there. After that your chick will become a great explorer around your property and start hunting on its own. I wouldn't worry about it eating anything it shouldn't regarding plants/insects they are just born smart like that and know what they can eat. Plus when hunting it will have the mental stimulation it needs. Best of luck with your project and your attempts to keep it mentally stimulated.

You would not happen to know what kind of chick it is? It looks like a meat bird chick to me but it is hard to tell from a picture and they don't hold still for portraits generally. Are you rescuing it? That is down, not true feather and he would likely need a supplemental heat or a warm spot at the least. If you use a light or whatever heat source you decide... be careful about fire hazard. You can mix the crumble with water to make a porridge. Chicks like that and they eat more while hydrating. You are in Great Britain somewhere I take it? There are many friendly chicken people there who could give you a hand. Good luck with him. I hope it works out for you.

Well what're you going to do with him when grows up? He needs a companion of some fluffy animal sort, he still needs food and water providing once he's older and you'll need somewhere to lock him up at night if there's any predators where you live. When he's 5/6 weeks he can live outside so he'll need a small coop and run, most importantly a friend he can roost with to keep warm. I think it'd be kindest and right to give him to someone who knows what they're doing and has the correct facilities to raise a chicken and see it through its life.
