First of all I dont know my chicks gender, so ill be refering to the chick as him.
my chick gets lonely quickly , we keep him near the varanda, he cries for people and occasionally jumps out of the basket we keep him in so we put a net over it . Usually when left alone he goes to sleep , eats or cries. I usually take him to the garage walkwith him. I am a student so I have very low time.mirror, stuffed animal nothing works.
When we want him to sleep we put him in a dark room and put a newspaper over the basket , he cries for me but he eventually goes to sleep.
I cannot buy another chick . I put him to sleep at 6pm and wake him up at 7-8am.

we got some poultry feed and I crush it and give it to him, sometimes he sneezes is it too dusty or is he cold?

I keep him in a basket with newspaper and some socks , he more than a week old and looks healthy to me.

how can I make him cry less and fix the sneezing problem?
btw I dont have a proper brooder and cant get one right now.

Do you have any kind of light bulb that can directed toward him? He may be cold. And there really isn't a 'proper brooder.' A lot of things can be a nice brooder that you probably have at your house. Do you have a large Rubbermaid container? They tend to work quite well as a brooder.
And is he on newspaper? Newspaper can be bad for chicks because it doesn't have good grip. Towels are better than newspaper.

Chicks cry when they are cold. It is very unlikely he is crying for people. You are keeping it on a veranda with no source of heat. Why do you have a chick if I can ask? You sound to me like you don't have alot of time and you apparently do not have facilities to house a chicken. That chick, if it survives, will just as likely grow into a rooster which is a whole nother story. I don't mean to offend but I must say, it sounds like you really have no business having a chicken. I understand they are cute and you see pictures of them living like house cats but birds are generally not ideal house pets.

If you can't get another chick and he lives to adulthood what will you do with him? Do you have other chickens? He needs a heat source, sometimes I use a heat lamp or a microwaveable heat pad if I only have one or two chicks, the snugglesafe heat pad is good, it stays warm for a good eight hours. Maybe if you don't have much time you could find someone willing to take him off your hands?

First of all, let me say WELCOME to BYC!! If you only have one chck why not go to Tractor Supply and see if they ave at least one chick available for your chick. Or consider going to wherever you bought your chick and get it a companion. Chicks during their first week will require 90-95F degree temperatures, and then weekly you can reduce those temperatures by 5 degrees, until they feather out. Best of luck you can use a heating pad as well for heat you may have one laying around already otherwise you may need to use a heat lamp in a dedicated brooder pen. Best of luck if you have any questions you have definately come to the right place. Chicken need their "Flock" that is why people are suggesting you get at least anther.

I do have to agree with some of the other comments, if you can't get another and can't do a proper brooder you really are in over your head and neglecting that poor chicks physical needs. Please take it back to the store you bought it from, or figure out how to provide for it properly. I do not say this out of malice, but animal neglect is animal neglect.

I keep him in a plastic basket with newspaper flooring , which i change daily and keep a towel in the basket for insulation.
He stops crying when someone is near him and chirps happily.I keep him outside the veranda (not in it )for sunlight .At 6pm I try to make the place dark so he sleeps.
He follows me around as I walk. I feed him crushed feed and water. He is healthy enough to jump out the basket and nowadays he doesnt even sleep on the towels. I dont know his exact age but I have had him for about 6 days and could guess the guy who sold him had him for a few days too.

He is very energetic , I cant wrap him in towels anymore, he also is calm when someone walks (he probably thinks its his mother).
Even though it is winter I live in tropical climate region.
He has all his feathers grown and is eating properly.
I have a patch of grass in my garage with ants , dirt , etc , where I walk him
