Long Distance Friendships :-(

Oh yes.. The baby bi-orb does look pretty nice. I've seen them in the stores and they are about the same size as the tank Danielle has. Kind of like an enormous fish bowl.. hehe.. but they look pretty cute. It would be a perfectly good home for a male Betta

Yes yes... they tend to only make nests when they are feeling content... unless there is a female close they are desperate for

A great big nest means hes got nough energy to maintain the thing (they look like hard work!) and it also shows they are of a.... particularly reproductive mindset

So sometimes perfectly happy, healthy males take breaks from nest building if they just dont feel like it.

The Almond leaves release stuff in the water... tannins that soften it.. and have antibacterial properties which are good to keep the fishies healthy. They float on the water for a few days to a week or so.. and the boys LOVE to make bubbles under or around them.... reminds them of home, I think (Thailand area).

It'll be at least until tomorrow night before I can post them. I have to wait for my mom to upload them off the camera and onto her computer.. sorry

. But my computer is not compatible with the older camera software...

Ohhhhhh Okay so its sort of like a water conditioner but organic? is it off the Almon nut plant? :S or is it an Aquatic plant o.O

computers can be such a pain cant they
hmm.png

Once i get a tank and stuff, i am gonna have to look around local pet stores to see where all the happy Betta's are
hmm.png
i dont like buying the limp lifeless ones

Its the females... they are of a.. reproductive mindset too
tongue.png

The eggs arent fertilised or anything.. since I havent put them in with the male in the spawning tank.. the male fertilises the eggs after they come out... so they are just empty little eggs and the females see them as food
roll.png
The males would too... they fertilise the eggs while being wrapped around the female.. though like I said, that happens after they come out... so the boys will eat the ones that arent fertilised too. Funny how they know the difference! Though alot of females eat the fertilised eggs anyway... thats why the daddy has to protect them by driving her away.

Silly little Fishies! wasting perfectly good eggs
lol.png

Yep... organic. I dont know if its the actual Amlond nut plant... they call it Indian Almond and its terrestial. I've wondered too if its the same thing. They dry the leaves in the sun and then you can stick em in your tank and they float

I can help you find Bettas off aquabid when you are ready if you like
big_smile.png
I know they send over there because they have transhippers and shipment schedules
smile.png

I wish I could say I'd send you one of the babies when they have babies... but in order to ship over there I'd have to put it in with another large shipment, and I dont know of any
sad.png
But I do know of a really good seller in Thailand that offers me and those I know good discounts, and he can out fish in with shipments headed anywhere... since they ship out so many from Thailand

Wouldn't Quarrintine laws put the fishies in quarrintine for a while here? :S Or do they allow the fishie in?

Hmmm... well I know they ship over there.. so they *must* be like here (eventhough I know Aus is a bit more strict with other pets).
Here most pets would be quarentined too.... but when the fish come in at the airport... Customs takes them out of the boxes and inspects each bag.. making sure its really the right kind of fish and nothing else in there, ect. Then they repackage them and send them on. I dont think they care so much about fish diseases being spread to to other fishes
hu.gif

The only thing transmittable to humans from a fish is tuberculosis.. and its very rare in fish, rarer that a human actually catch it (you'd have to out your fingers in your mouth while you were messing with the tank practically) but every place has it already, I think I read.
