LONG ISLAND NEW YORK

Mine laid eggs in the winter as well, just not as often.

To answer the question above I did rehome my last beautiful hen. I'm still so sad about it. I want so bad to try again but I get very attached and it broke my heart that they were dying and the vet and I didn't know why.

The only thing I did know I often had trouble with was those darn mites.

out in east quogue, this is the first winter my girls barely laid eggs. usually i get about 12-14 a week from 8 hens. but this winter all im getting is 2 a week. my new chicks will hopefully start laying in june and the older girls will be doing a better job by then. keeping my fingers crossed

I know this is a super old thread, but figured I’d update. I did eventually purchase more chickens and then chicken math took over.

I still wish we had a LONG ISLAND post. I do think I’d visit this site more often.

Hello- we’re moving abroad and therefore have to say goodbye to our beloved egg laying pets. We’re looking for a good home, so not giving away to just anybody as we want to make sure they do not end up in soup or fighting arena.

Happy to work out transportation/delivery together.
