Long live the King - the neverending story of Brahmalot!

Lady Rose is the daughter of Lady Lacey, from the land of Wyandotte, and either Alpha King Zeke or lesser King Snoopy. Ladies Lacey and Rose have both raised Brahmalot children and have been excellent mothers.

1 of our chickens died in September of liver cancer D'':
do you think that a brahma chick would get along with a broody Wyandot mother and be safe with her, another Wyandot, 1 Easter egger and 1 red sex link? (all hens) thanks for any advice, cause I want a brahma!
Sorry about the loss of your hen in September. You might want to do some research on the site here about introducing chicks to broodies. I know it has been done successfully, but I think timing is important. I tried to introduce chicks to a broody once and she would not accept them. You might want to consider getting two chicks unless you have a strict hen limit in your area, so that the chick has a friend at the bottom of the pecking order. This thread inspired me to include a Brahma in a chick order and she is now a beautiful and gentle hen.

We have a little derp of our own, so if she does end up down there, she'll have a friend :p
Besides, our chickens are very accepting of each other, (other than when matters involve treats of course) and our resident broody being broody 24/7 come spring... thanks though, really appreciate it. Might get a grown one who needs a home other than a stewpot or factory farm...

Sjisty- What a wonderful story about your beautiful birds! I have just spent way more time enthralled with it than I should have, It has made me laugh and cry.

Last winter I lost my flock due to a predator break in while we were gone for the weekend. Many of my girls were 4 and 5 years old, and had become very well loved. I was quite devastated. Your thread has made me remember how much joy my chickens gave me. My Brahmas were my favorite, and always so gentle. I am glad that my new flock I am starting over with will have more of Brahmas.

I look forward to reading more of your chicken's adventures in the land of Brahmalot!

Spring comes early to Brahmalot, and with spring comes babies! Lady Daffy starts off with six beautiful adopted children -
