Hi from rural Chatsworth..... I am on my second attempt raising chickens, except this time I have added ducks and a guinea fowl. Also a road island red and some silkies along with isa brown laying hens. My muscovy hen is sitting on a clutch of about 18 eggs due to hatch on or about the 28th of this month. And as an experiment in hatching I tucked 6 chicken eggs in her clutch yesterday. If my math was good they should all hatch together. My duck does not seem to notice or mind the extra eggs. I am just hoping that this flock does not end up like my first one.. food for preditors. Not sure what got into coop. I suspect a mink or fisher seeing as we are surrounded by little lakes and rivers. That and there were no holes large enough for anything else to get in. I have learned a lot here reading and look forward to learning much more.

Sorry to hear about your predator issues. Hardware cloth is a great deterrent. It's expensive, but it works! Best of luck with your chick/duckling hatch!
