Welcome to BYC. It's great to meet you!
I currently have a few Ohikis, one is a momma with three silkie/ohiki chicks. They are all newly acquired by me and I adore them! She's an awesome momma!
These are currently the best pics I have of her and her littles.

Nice hen you got there. So those are silkie ohiki crosses. Would be an interesting project to undertake

Thank you...I have a black and a paint silkie that I think are roos, still a bit young to be sure. If so, I'm planning to pair one with the ohiki and see what we get. I like the current littles are coming along. But I am still new at it.lol
Would be interesting to see how they will turn out. I cant wait to hatch my own crosses as well. Is gonna take awhile to get things close to the standards. Pretty much confused with the breeding genetics already

I can only imagine. Right now I'm just breeding for what I like. Some don't agree with the idea but I enjoy it and all my birds are healthy and happy so I figure why not! At some point I may get my hands on an ohiki roo and work twords standard. Who knows..lol

Thank you! The ohiki are pure japanese ohikis and the Phoenix I am guessing still has a lot of onagadori genes in him. Longest tail was 2.5metres
I'm fascinated by the Phoenix...I'd love to get some, but at this point we live in woods and can't really do a good pen and run and I just keep picturing those beautiful long tails tangled in briars.... Someday tho!

Only problem is we dont have a lot of genepool to work with so what we got will be heavily inbred which will pretty much mess up their health and other things

Most important is you are breeding towards what you like which is important. At least your passion is there
