Longtime Reader - just joined

Hello everyone! I have been lurking in the background reading posts for the past couple of years. So much wonderful information and always find myself back here when I have a question. :)

So let me introduce myself. My name is Alicia. My husband and I have had our own flock for 3 years now. We currently have 6 girls from our first group. This spring we added a second much larger coop. We have 16-9 week old chicks, and 13-4 week old chicks. Currently the older babies are out in their new coop and loving life. The younger group is still in the brooder, but we hope to get them outside in the next week. It has been unseasonable cold here this spring, and they are not all feathered out yet. I was adamant that I didn't want chickens when we first moved out of the city. I will say I was very surprised at how much fun they are. I enjoy my summer evenings chicken watching.

Outside of the chickens we have 3 children, but only 2 living at home. The oldest moved out on her own this past March. We enjoy our summer garden, canning/preserving, hunting, fishing, kayaking, and spending all the time we can with family and friends. Sometimes I can even lure them out here just to pick up some eggs. We have 3 dogs, 16 year old mutt and 2 english mastiffs (9yr & 7yr). They are all slowing down and pay no attention to the chickens. I will many times find them all drinking out of the same bowl.

I look forward to interacting more on the site, but if I am being honest I don't post much anywhere.
Hello! Welcome to BYC! Good luck with your flock!
