Can somebody tell me what this is? My dad found it at work on some steel and didnt know what it was, we looked in bug books and online. Still cant find what kind it is.

i've seen those. cant think of their name right now. I have a wierd bug i'd like identified if i remember to post the pics tomorrow. It injects its eggs into trees and dies hanging on the bark by their "injectors" and the trr fills with larvae. Odd critter, no clue what it is. Cool bug ya got there tho!

I was just reading about them. Apparently, they rarely bite, but when they do - it's painful! The bite is not dangerous, but it hurts.
 
It's an assassin bug. Want to have some fun? Put it in a jar with a couple of crickets, then leave it alone for a while. Fun stuff...
