Look at what I got!

excuse my ignorance but what is an easter egger? Im from New zealand and I have not seen an easter Egger before. I have a splash Araucana hen and she lays green/blue eggs are they similar?
Easter Eggers are mixed breed chickens that lay (usually ) blue eggs. It's a term, rather than a breed. :]

Here in the Netherlands we don't have easter eggers either. I’ve been reading about them and as nuthatched says , its not a real breed but has to do with egg colors. I thought the eggs can be blue, green or olive. The easter eggers are offspring (mixed) with auracana or americauna. Please correct me if I made a mistake.

Easter Egger are very very popular. They are a mix . Each hatchery sells their own blend of breeds. They will vary in feather color, patterns, beard or beardless. There eggs will be blue/green/brown or pink. However , each chicken only lays one egg color all her life. You can get them in bantam sizes . People are complaining that the hatcheries have been getting lazy with their genetics. The result is a uniform green egg not a variety of colors. When you get a good flock you have an Easter basket of various colored eggs everyday.

Beautiful!:love:love

I used to have an EE (might of been an Americana) and I think she was gorgeous

I’m hoping to get some pretty, fluff faced and colorful chicks next spring from our new rooster *pictured*
Good luck yourself!
Thank you and good luck to you. I’d love to create some like this girl you’ve got she is stunning. That’s a pretty boy to.

yes Easter eggers are pretty much a mutt. I don’t want mine to be your run of the mill Easter eggers where they won’t all have pea combs or they won’t all lay colored eggs. My line will have a lot of variation of color patterns. I will breed towards bearded and towards colorful eggs although I don’t believe having one that lays brown eggs is all that bad sometimes.

I think brown eggs are OK in the mix. I really don't know why people make olive eggers. Olive green is soo ugly. Just it easy to breed that color. I don't have the time or patience to even attempt what you are doing. Good Luck and don't forget them as a bantam variety.

Well everyone I haven’t had the chance to get more pictures of the young boys yet. But I did snap a few of my big boy blue. I was told he was ameraucana but I’m thinking Easter egger. He is the daddy to all the chicks I have hatching out. He is a gentlemen to the lady’s.
