It would be fun to research its owner. Maybe it belonged to a school teacher and the locket was a gift from her students, or perhaps it belonged to Belva Lockwood who was the first woman to run for President. How exciting.

DON'T CLEAN IT!

Maybe find an antique jeweler online who can tell you something about it from the photos if there are none in your area.
