He is a beautiful owl. Every year we get to watch two babies fledge and grow up. I even have a video of two of them bathing in the bird bath! Keeping the little ones under cover is a small price to pay for the glory of watching the owls grow and learn (and hopefully learn not to eat baby chickens). They don't bother the bigger chickens and even when they do a fly-over, my chickens will startle, but when they realize its the owls and not a hawk, they just ignore them. A hawk fly-over makes them all dive for cover.
