oh my goodness! looks like you should check for poisonous gasses! Too funny - I wouldn't look for signs of breathing - I would hit the box and make them all jump up and run around!

On occasion, I've even found a chickie on its back with legs sticking straight up, looking like it's already going into rigor mortis. I'd freak out, poke it, and its little leggies would frantically wiggle in the air. Once back upright, it would look at me like, "What in the freaking heck?!?!"

Sometimes I think these little chicks will be the death of me...
