Look what I found on my local CL 😍😍

Really enjoying mine so far. Def a challenge and more to consider, but he is pretty laid back and submissive for the moment. I do believe he thinks he is a Guinea cock though....
Lol. I bet he is a handful at some points my quail are enough for right now even though I’m planning on expanding my quail amount by triple pretty soon. Lol.

This is what I was going to say. My father in law came over the other day and he was like "what in the He** is that!?" When he saw Andre. He refused to go anywhere near him - too scared. Hahaha

I don't know what it is about these guys that scares people. They are truly the bestest of boys. Like do you know of many males the size of Big Red that aren't gamefowl and can fly to your arm on command? He also really enjoys his head scritches

Basty says quail are addicting. I'm going to take his word for it. Between the gamefowl, the landraces and very soon the serama, I do NOT need a quail pen

Oh my gosh. The quail at my place have reached a crazy level of obsession. I absolutely love them. I had a hard time with the idea of battery cages, so I ended up building a pretty substantial aviary for them. Still need to finish the trim, but shooting for a natural habitat of sorts.

The excess roosters will go to grow out cages. But I think I check every 5 mins for my first egg.

Then there is the current incubator situation..... 😑

Here they be

See?! Quail obsessed. I totally agree on the aviary, they look stunning when placed in a naturalist environment

They dust bathe more than chickens, seems constant almost. I'm going to work on a second level this weekend, and then some tunnels made of 2x4's and hardware cloth with access so I can get the eggs if I need to.

Very nice aviary! I didn't know coturnix laid blue eggs, that's really cool
They don't really have a name aside from cortunix, but they carry the "celadon" gene, which makes the blue eggs.

I learned today the cortunix place of origin is Japan. Which is interesting. You don't hear much about domesticated fowl snd Japan.

Sigh. Yeah, I do want celedon quail, but that will most likely have to wait too. I love your aviary! Meanwhile I will just have to live vicariously through all your hatching :)
