This sounds very promising. Especially him offering food to them. This, or when they insist on eating after the girls is always very promising.

I'm also hoping it's a good sign. The girls definitely don't seem as tense. Especially Efi. Let's hope it keeps improving. They still sleep separately, like a couple on bad terms. I'm really loving the brahmas as a breed btw

They are supposed to be good grazing pigs, so that was what made me finally commit. Douglas is a real piece of work, he is an American Guinea hog (think I said that) who roams the property.

I am by no means an animal activist, but owning Douglas has made me not purchase pork at the grocery anymore. The intellect of pigs, and their personalities are like nothing else - probably more like a dog is in our eyes.... than a dog. Aside from rolling in mud, they are actually incredibly hygienic and clean - but their weakness is food. Douglas's favorite snack is a raw egg every night.

I know most slaughterhouses now follow rules and dispatch animals humanely, but for them to be raised without compassion and love is sad - they are deeply emotional creatures. I love pork though, bacon especially, and thought if I could give a pig a good life and then process it, it would make it more appropriate. But I don't know....

keep them!:wee

Yeah I have thee hens a light, dark and a buff who are really old now and probably don't lay anymore. They arent particularly very big either. The dark appears the largest - but still not huge.

I've got a black (with a little bit of leakage) and a grey. I haven't ever seen a grey before. Anyways, the grey is slightly bigger. I'm really loving them. Thinking of bringing a brahma cockerel in

I almost purchased a light brahma instead of an EE but colored eggs won out in the end. I’m thinking about trying bark brahmas for an auction in my county. I don’t know if I could handle more large birds though my BGJ mix eats like crazy and is my largest bird.

I'd say go for it! I think they're really worth it. And I've had them for only three days! So much so that I'm putting all my (granted not very thought-through) plans in the aor for them

I used to have a Vietnamese Pot Belly Pig as a pet. It was a rescue from a friend. It was kept in the house until it rooted up my carpet and tried to root a wall too. It was a great escape artist even when I had rings put in its nose to keep it in the yard. I eventually gave it to another friend. It got HUGE!!!!! I asked a Vietnamese father to a child on my bus what they did with them in Vietnam where he was from and he said they tasted delicious. Something I could never do. I can't even think of eating one of my ducks let alone a pig. I hope they become pets.

I’m super indecisive so I’ve been thinking of breeds I want and comparing them to colors and egg colors I want and need. I need a good production layer and I want a sweet pretty chicken. Its been rough deciding and this is for my order next year. I’ll probably post a poll and see what is should do later on.

Oh I am super indecisive as well. Like VERY indecisive. If you go back on my earlier threads you'll see a whole bunch of breeds thrown around. Right now I'm talking with an acquaintance, the same one I got the brahma girls from, and I've arranged to get three serama pullets and one cockerel. Well, after falling in love with Brahma I'm seriously considering changing the serama cockerel to a brahma. But I really can't decide. Anyhow, I might post a thread of my own (again  ). For you I'd say the Brahma fits you well, I have not seen any egg production out of them, but they are smart, they're beautiful, and much more friendly than some of my other birds. Chicken math and indecisiveness don't mesh well🤣

I absolutely love the dark variation it’s just gorgeous. I was scrolling Meyer earlier today and I was like I want this I want that omg that chicken is almost 100 dollars but I still want it! It took me about two months to decide between Cream Legbar Brahma and EE. Right now I’m thinking Silver penciled Plymouth Rock and Blue Copper Marans
