Look who arrived today!

Cute video! I can't wait to get my new babies in to add to my flock. I can't remember if you had said you ordered or hatched yours? Did you get them all sexed and order all females? If not, there are surely roos in there and even when you have them sexed, you will sometimes get one as it's not 100% accurate. I also found that after raising a couple sets of chicks now, a lot of the most friendly, bold ones were my roos - but that's not always the case. Sometimes you will have a super-friendly hen early on too. In my experience it seemed like the girls took a little longer to be super-friendly while the roos were never scared. And the roos are more likely to do the "stand-offs" with each other.

I ordered them, all female. I understand there may be roos in there, I just hope it isn't more than a couple. Time will tell.

I bought mine at a feed store. I don't know if it is a rooster or hen. I think that it's a hen because Feathers's crest is small so I'm guessing that she's a hen.

My pullets chest bumped when they were younger and challenged each other, I figured they were just playing or trying to start that whole pecking order thing. They had a really bad habit of flying out when I fed them as well once they started getting bigger. I started putting them in a smaller cage and closing the door when I cleaned, etc. but I only had 4 not 15, I can't imagine having to control that many.LOL I too have a couple of dogs that would love nothing more than to eat them. Good luck!

A friend of mine, who grew up with chickens, told me not to sweat it. He thinks they are mostly pullets. They're nearing 4 weeks old, a few more weeks should tell for sure.

Update on the chicks. They are 4 weeks now and I decided to move them out to the Green Dragon Roost. They were getting pretty rambunctious in the brooder and everything in my garage has a layer of dust on it. I moved them out yesterday afternoon. Sunny day, mid 60's. Last night got down to about 40. I put a 200w bulb in the coop and shut them in for the night.
I woke up early this morning to check on them and everyone is fine. I opened the door for them but it's still a little chilly. Nobody wanted to come out for a while. Last I checked, 2 had come out.

5 weeks old today and I'm here to tell you that their first bowl of hot oatmeal was pure comedy.

Now, can I start to tell who's a pullet and who's a cockerel at this point? What should I look for?
