Looking at 105 degrees today!!!

It's tough going right now for sure.

We hit 108 on Sat. I have frozen 2 liter bottles that I put in the water for the chickens and give to my bunnies (they lay on top of them!) we also have a "snake mister" that we put on the turkeys after losing 4 poults to the heat. We spray down the ground all around the coops and run the sprinkler for them to run through (if they can get the calves out of it!)

I tried the pool & had no luck. Guess that's why they named them chickens. You feed em & take care of them day in & day out & they still think your gonna kill them.

I use a sprinkler between my 2 chicken yards. I put my waterers in the "way" of the sprinkler so the water stays cool and filled as the sprinkler drips on it. At first my girls didn't like it, but yesterday when I went to check on them they were all wet and very cool. Since I have to go to work every day, this system keeps them cool and the waterers stay full. (I do leave an area of their runs dry, though, so they can get out of the sprinkles if they want to).

I dunked mine today too - just midway up their bodies. The frozen treats and cold water just didn't seem to be making a dent. And mine cower in the corner when I try misting. Tomorrow 98 with a heat index of 120 is predicted (d@*&ed humidity!!!) here.

Depending on how things go...don't laugh or scowl...mine may end up in the kitchen for a few hours
