Looking for a hatchery

That's odd, I'd give them an email to ask. It could be because it's early.
Ok, thanks. It should be warm enough here by then especially with that many birds. And our post offices are better than most

I just found this menu

Mt Healthy is in Ohio. The states they list are probably the ones in the 1-2 day shipping range.

Michigan is in the 2-day area. Mine were shipped Sunday, and I got a call Monday morning at 6 am that the PO had my chicks.

But yeah, that flat out sucks.

I'm not sure what the deal is, darn.
I plan on calling in the morning. I'm going to Ohio next month, my grandparents live there. So I'm thinking if nothing else I could have them shipped to their house and then just drive them home when I go. Cincinnati is far from where I'll be or I'd just pick them up.

I worked part time at a small PO here in Oklahoma for several years. The issue would be with "The Plant" or distribution centers. Its very hard to know what's going on, or where parcels are kept. The volume is staggering, and even a conscientious driver/loader might not notice the chicks, and be able to move them somewhere protected.

These places are huge with bay doors open for hours, or parcels loaded onto trucks during the night for early morning shipping out to the local POs.

I know they'll put heat packs in the shipping box, but if it sits for an extended period on a dock or in a truck, it could get SO cold in the Dakotas.

I also like Cackle Hatchery in Missouri. I'm very partial to trying to order from not-terribly-far-away.

Let us know what they say!

That has to suck for them too, as a business, really limiting their customer base.
They were super nice and helpful.
I'm getting them shipped to my grandparents house in Ohio and then driving home with them the next day. At least that's the plan. I'd love to pick them up but it's over 3 hours away from where I'll be so that's just too much. I'm hoping they only take one day to arrive though since it's in the same state.
I bought 15 chicks for myself and 10 for the neighbor. I'm excited! I hope they all arrive safe and healthy.
I had problems ordering though, I put in all of the info after deliberating over breeds and amounts all morning, and then as I hit submit order it gave me an error message and said can't complete order. I couldn't figure out what the problem was. I made sure all of the chicks were available on that day and the info was correct. So I called them. I talked to Sherry and she was very helpful. She said they actually had almost all just gone out of stock and the website was updating weird so even though it looked like they were still available in the cart, it wouldn't process the order. So kind of a brick wall, that was pretty disappointing. She had me hold a couple minutes, and then said she did an override on their end and was able to still fulfill my order. She said they always have extras that they don't show on the website, and since I only wanted one of most breeds she said it would be no problem. So that was super nice, I was very grateful. She's answered my email questions right away too, so A+++ for customer service so far. Thank you to everyone who recommended them!
Hopefully their chicks are as nice as their service, haha. She did the 10% discount as well. The total worked out to $233. Pricy, but at least I'll be able to get some chicks. The neighbor will be paying me back for hers too.

Thank you for this! That makes sense.
Cackle looked very nice too. I know their birds are really good quality for a hatchery. They just didn't have much available though.
