Still a risk, and I don’t take risks. (Edit for clarification): and others should know these risks, instead of thinking roosters are all sunshine and rainbows “gentlemen”. IMO they shouldn’t even have access to hens unless you’re breeding, and then they should be separated when you have what you need.

You're entitled to your opinion but you're not basing it on your own personal experience. I have had dozens of males on my farm and none of them have ever hurt the hens.

Predator problem not too picky on the breed just friendly with people and chickens!

Unfortunately, a roo won't do anything for predators.

I love my roosters but they cannot protect hens from predators. At best they will alert them of danger.

You can protect your chickens by building a secure coop and run far, far better than a rooster ever could. He’ll probably actually be the danger to your hens. How many hens do you have? You’ll need at least 8-10 or he’ll ovebreed. And sometimes they’ll just pick favorites anyway, and rip and claw all her feathers out, kill her even.

While I agree that a secure coop and run is the very best protection, I would encourage you to educate yourself concerning roosters. Someone has misinformed you. There are plenty of good roosters in the world. Many of them are able to exist with fewer than 8 hens and not cause them harm. Furthermore, a rooster who overbreeds a hen to that extent, is bullying her, not loving her. That rooster is the exception, not the rule.
