looking for a state with cheap housing and farmland

lurky
I have been looking at real estate online and i cannot find ANYTHING in NC that looks like it welcomes chickens.

That's because NC is full of subdivisions now that everyone is moving here. I can't stress this enough...if you're looking for old fashion southern living, NC just isn't it anymore.

I hate how things are getting built up like this. New jersey's farms are being bought out to put buildings and houses on it. When I find my beautiful property I am going to pass it down to my family

That's the problem here. Old folks with farm land are dying off and passing their land down to multiple family members. Instead of buying each other out and one person keeping the land they sell the farm land to developers that then build giant houses on .15 acres each and sell them to transplants.

So the more land being delveloped + less land for our wildlife + more transplants moving here + our endless droughts and lack of drinking water + culture clashing (one of the biggest issues) = One freakin miserable place to live.

I 100% agree with you on that

You understand, you come down here quite a bit huh. PS, I would take those silkies off your hands but DH won't let me have anymore animals until the spring.

I'm not kidding either. I have 5 acers, without exemptions, my yearly land tax is about $160.00. If I could claim a farm exemption, it'd be about half that.
