Do you mean like nest boxes? Where the hens will lay? If so, you only need 1 nest per 4 hens (google)
No, I mean two small boxes where only one chicken will fit in each one inside the nesting 'house' I had converted for them.
I may not know the proper wording, but I have a kid's toy horse barn that was converted into a 'bedroom' / house for two hens. Each hen will have one 14-inch wide box to next in. That's all that fits inside it. Otherwise, any others will have to be built or purchased if I get more than two chickens... I hope that's clear.
Adding: I suppose I could get rid of the boxes I have inside (I hate wasting money and time) if I end up getting 3 or 4 girls... they'd have to squeeze in under that roof, though... it's the size of a very small dog house. I'll see if I can copy & paste, or upload a photo...
I may or may not have mentioned, this was an emergency 'get-it-together' so we had to do what we could in one week with only $100.

Not to be rude, but from what I can tell that isn’t even acceptable for 2. There is no predator protection and no place to roost. Please read up on space requirements/proper housing before getting any chickens…

You need a coop. Those nests are suitable for laying an egg. Not for living & sleeping in.

There’s many articles on BYC that show cheap & easy ways to put a structure together. Check out that section and I’m sure you’ll get some ideas on how to build something suitable and long lasting. ❤️

Welcome to BYC!

May I please ask what this hardware cloth is protecting?

Welcome to BYC! Great job making do with what you had! Although you may want to try and get a better housing situation up. I think you’ll find your girls will be much more likely to perch on the fence next to that porch, instead of laying on the actual porch. That will leave them exposed to the elements, as well as predators.

A raccoon or a possum will come along and shred that tarp in an instant and eat your chickens in this little tent area.

It would be better if you used hardware cloth to wrap the entire porch with and then put the tarp over the hardware cloth...
But you would have to rig together a door on the front of the porch... Which might be a little bit difficult.

You could get four pieces of plywood and build a simple box and cut windows all along the top of the box and then cover that with hardware cloth.
You would still have to figure out how to make a door.
