Looking for best paint job!

I am completely impressed with those of you who have decorated your coops/runs. I originally entertained ideas of faux painting/stencils or 'artistic' painting. After 3 days of standing in the hot dirt with a roller and paintbrush just to get the primer and first coat of paint on, I have greatly reduced my expectations.

I'm still not done - but hope to post photos in the next few weeks. My DH has built a fantastic coop/run with much help from BYCers and books. Don't tell him - but we should have built bigger (what a surprise!)

Please keep posting - these pics are works of chicken art!

The colors aren't exactly wild, but I do think they're kind of cute:

Plus the flags on the coop are leftover from our wedding.

Groovy man, groovy!

I wouldn't mind painting it something fun and totally outrageous. But with a neighbor who will more then likely complain to City Hall about the chickens I better keep the coop on the DL (down low) and paint it neutral.

Well, "Blue's House" isn't finished yet, but we're going to be painting the "House of Cochin" this week. The kiddos picked the colors--Sunshine Yellow and Fuschia.

This should be interesting.

Now, for the big question.....stripes or polka-dots?

I am still working on mine, darn rain anyway, but here is the outside.

Chickens, courtesy of my seven year old granddaughter and two year old grandson, finished up by my granddaughter.

The inside is the lilac color with white roosts and a dark purple nesting box. I am painting 2x2's with the pink, purple and lilac colors that will be ziptied around the bottom of the cage. I like color!

Mine is going to be all white metal, but maybe I can hang shutters on the East window!!! You all did such a good job, love the colors!! I am sort of like the fellow who said they went over budget on the coop, and got their paint free. . .same with me. Our chicken house is attached to the Alpaca barn, and DH said it would be about $1500 for all the materials. That was then, we are now just under $3000 for the whole thing,

and I think it will be about 28 x30 when all done. It is slow going, rain, rain, rain, and a disabled husband . . .I am slowly but surely grinding my teeth off.

I have to do this with our roof!!!! Our roof doesn't have enough of an overhang so the whole interior of the coop gets wet. What you've done is PERFECT! I must have DH look at this when he gets home.... veddy veddy eeenteresting....hmmmm........

BTW, this is my new fav thread

. I can't get enough of seeing painted-up coops. I wonder when you become satisfied with your coop and no longer feel the need to modify? I thought ours was great when we got it, but now I have a list of 800 modifications we need to do to make it better. We're working on ventilation and more comfortable roosts first. Will do some super cute stencils next. The list never ends!!!

Ours is painted gray to match our house.
They are right next to each other so it made sense.

It was really hard just to decide on the color of the trim - needed to go well with cedar - so decided on something bold "French Lilac" My husband wasn't sure but in the end he liked it and so did I. Good luck - just remember paint is cheap and can be easily changed. Also, look for cans at the store that were custom mixed and people didn't want them - sometimes you can get great deals.
