Yes, DDeans, that is the one! If you read the questions and answers at the bottom of the page, unless he took them off, he said the solid red ones were Copper Marans, and normal! Yowza! He is selling them on Eggbid, too--the whole flock.

Q: I noticed that some of the hens are black and some red. Is that normal for black marans? Nov-26-08
A: Yes it is normal. Some are black, some with copper shade around neck and some with copper shade all over the body. You can breed them for a particular shading on your own.
Q: i saw on Eggbid that you have about 22Black Copper Marans birds up for sale. Do still want to sell them, And would be willing take a offer on them? Also how old are most of the birds, and is the color of the egg that you have showing is it at thier biging of thier laying cycle or from later in it? I'm very interested in the 11 birds the you have listed on eggbid.com. I lookforwared to hearing from you on this matter. Thank you for your time. Walt B. Deer Lodge,MT. Nov-26-08
A: Hi Walt. i'm cancelling that auction and individually listing them all on eggbid tonight. There's too much demand and I want everyone a chance to get atleast one hen from me and a rooster from someone else if not me, so they can start their own flock. These hens are 5 months old and some are laying and some will start in a couple of weeks.

hehe ... it gets even better than that ...

originally he listed these on Eggbid AND Craigslist. When I contacted him, 10 hens +1 rooster were already "spoken" for ... he was willing to "give" them away to someone who would pamper them ... at the low, low cost of $200 ... BUT he wanted the rights to 300 Eggs ... to sell on Ebay. he'd pay me the shipping costs, but I had to collect, pack, and actually ship them for him. Then in a different conversation, the cost rose to $250 and 400 eggs A YEAR! He guaranteed me that I was his first priority (not that I would agree to ship eggs for him, but still was hoping for a couple of hens) ... surprise he's finally listing them separately!!!

one of those links to eggs in the previous posts are his as well. those hens just started laying (early according to him) so if that's what color they are early in the cycle, yikes!

the "red" hens are red shavers ... he has them listed on eggbid too. the shed in his pictures, he wants $1000 for plus $$ for the fence posts and fencing wire.

so ... if anyone does decide to contact him, be prepared ... Just to let you all know.

What's funny is that I called him 2 days ago and he offered me to have all of the hens and rights to 200 egs that I would have to pack and ship for him. I saw hos ad on craigslist too. Its a good thing I checked on here with everyone before I wasted any money on his hens. Thanks!

LOL---I talked to him the SAME day you did(Tuesday) and he gave me the SAME story--that I could have them at the cost of $200-$250 and he also wanted the rights to eggs---400 eggs. He would sell them on e-bay and then paypal me the shiping and handling and then I would ship them for him?!?!?!?!

LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!! This is getting crazier and crazier...after some thought I realized this is just PURE insane!!! Then I got an e-mail from him last night--I guess it was to all that were possibly interested...I'm copying and pasting the e-mail...here it is:

Hi All,

I’m selling all of my Black Copper Maran’s as I’m moving out of state. These chickens were hatched on June 24th and are 5 months+ old. Some hens are already laying and some will be laying in couple of weeks. For pictures and prices, see the link below,

http://naveed.name/black_copper_marans.htm

Please also check the prices of their eggs on eBay. They can pay back for themselves with just 2-3 dozen eggs. I cannot ship and they are for pick-up only starting end of december.
