Looking for breeder in Southeastern North Carolina

Hi,
I am new to this but I am looking for a place in North Carolina that I can get pullets from. I also have some questions as to whether it is better to get started pullets or to get day old chicks. If anyone has any tips or suggestions I'd really appreciate it!

I know of a guy in Fort Mill,SC that he raises\\sells americanas,australorps,wyanndottes,golden wyandottes,barred rocks,and dark cornish bulldog chickens.He can find almost ANY type of chicken around here.

I live in Rock Hill,SC and we will be raising\\selling white silkies and mostly mutts.Also I will be selling Lavander Guinea Keets,Chocolate Muscovy Ducklings, and Jumbo Coturnix Quail. My prices for mutts are lesser than others because I have mutts. Dont get me wrong,mutts are good layers,good for meat and some have become good setters. Just show quality is off.

At the end of summer I will be raising dark cornish bulldogs as well.(I bought some chicks from my Fort Mill friend.

How do the silkies do in the hot weather down there? This is my first year for having chickens so I'm still learning a lot. When are you selling your chicks?

Maybe in March. Got to git my broodies jammed in their broody houses,stick eggs under their fuzzbutts and get em to hatch.
Silkies are fine as long as they are not exposed to too much heat.Ill have a solarfan in their keep thru summer.

Most people around here think" its spring,go planting and buy birds' then when its over,they dont even think you can raise chicks any other time,nor veggies/fruits.

I think I'm going to go for a larger bird then a silkie even though they do look really pretty. I have 10 chicks right now but the person I got them from didn't know what breed they were.

I also do have others.

I bred a barred rock roo with our games last year.We had barred rock games which finished out at 5 lbs. They were ugly but good eatin.

We looked around the breeds and I think we want to get the Delaware and probably later on down the road a few plymouth rock. We have a bunch of mutt cockerels right now but they sure are a lot of fun. Just need some girlies for them to have fun with.

I don't think they breed or hatch but they sell the chicks at 2 or 3 days old and I have heard good things about them, though I have never bought from them. They will also take back unwanted roosters if a chick is not sexed correctly. You may want to check them out.

We are kind of in the middle of Eastern, NC. Near Greenville. We are doing weekly hatches of Buff Orps, Black Copper Marans, Blue Cochins, Dark Cornish and Light Sussex right now. In the near future we will have White Ameraucana, Speckled Sussex, Muscovy and Indian Runner Ducks, Turkeys and peafowl later in the year.
