You require a transmitter/receiver to relay a signal. I have a Ubiquity system with the transmitter at the house and pointed to the barn, the receiver is at the barn.
Here is how I have mine set up:
1) From Router to Transmitter, instead of running ethernet cable (because basically I am lazy), I used a 'Power-link' (this uses your homes power cables to run a signal through rather than running a 100' of cable - there will be two Power-links).
- You plug an Ethernet cable into LAN port on your Router, then plug the other end of the Ethernet into the 'Power-link' which is simply PLUGGED into your regular power outlet on your wall.
2) The second 'Power-link' is plugged into where you wish to put your Ubiquity transmitter. I put mine in my Garage, so I could then simply run a very short piece of Ethernet from the Power-link to the Ubiquity transmitter outside.
- all this means is that you don't have to run a crap load of ethernet cabling from your Router to the Ubiquity transmitter. If you can put your Ubiquity Transmitter right close to the Router then you can for-go the Power-link.
3) Once you have your 'house' side of things set-up, go place the Ubiquity RECEIVER at the location where you wish to get internet/network access - in my case the Stable. Make sure you point the receiver directly at the transmitter with no trees etc in the way.
- Once this is done you can run another short ethernet cable into the area you wish to have your internet/network and plug it into an Access Point. You can buy one, or if you are real clever and handy you can take an old Router and 'turn it into an Access Point' - just do a search online for 'changing router into access point.
OK hope it's as clear as mud! It sounds fiddly diddly and daunting but if you have some nerdy teen they can help you set this up. And I tell you having internet/network access in the Barn is awesome, you can work out there, have all sorts of dandy cameras, and get up to date weather reports hahaha! Oh and hold Teams Meetings with your co-workers and show them how 'hard you are working' with a Chicken sitting on your lap

There are several ports for cables. I tried to connect another router set up to relay or extend the wifi to the barn but it never worked. I can never wait long enough on hold (ignore?) to talk to a real person.
