Have you tried posting on craigslist? When i was looking for a buddy for our Nigerian Dwarf goat, there were not any ads on craigslist. So i posted under Farm and Garden that i was looking for one and got a lot of responses. Just a thought. [IMG]

Here's the link for the american dairy goat assoc. http://www.adga.org/

    I
would say call them and ask for contact info for a club near you. (828) 286-3801 [email protected]

You can also put up an ad at the local feedstore.

    Good luck!

Do you know anything about goats? What questions you should ask, etc?

Ask ADGA to send you a list of breeders in your area. If they don't have what you want they can often refer you to someone who does.

I have a small herd of mini dairy goats. I highly recommend that you only buy bio security tested (CAE, CL, Johne's) animals. Or only kids under 6 months from clean tested herds. This will save you much heartbreak and hard times in the end.

Not everyone cares about such things, and that's for them to decide, but health is important in all animals- especially when it comes to such nasty, contagious diseases.

As others have said, I'd contact ADGA. Do you know which breed(s) you want? There are many dairy breeds to choose from. Try looking up different ones to find characteristics that you'd like [IMG]

    Good Luck!

Chickygirl, the reason I ask if you know anything about goats is because I have been involved with dairy goats for over 27 years, and am happy to share anything I know. [IMG] If you have any questions, feel free to ask, or pm me. [IMG]

I think I want some nubians but not sure cause it will mainly depend on what i can find for sale in my area. Ive heard that testing for CAE, CL, Johne's thing from quiet a few people now what exactly is it? Also ive got quiet a few other animals but never had goats before. Do you have to vaccinate them like giving cows thier 7 ways? Do you need to keep thier feet trimmed? And their was something else i meant to ask but forgot what it was i was going to ask lol.

Do a Google Search for breeders of the breed you are looking for. Many of them will have a contact page and/or a list of links to other breeders that may be in your area. Also, try posting on Backyardherds.com also.
