Hello, I am looking to pick up some hatching eggs withing 1 hour of the Twin Cities. Me and my kids built and tested the home made bator and are ready for some eggs. I prefer to pick them up rather than ship in the mail. I am looking for Plymouth Rock, Rhode Island, Sussex, or Wyandotte but open to any other breeds as long as they are good egg layers in the winter and are not aggressive with children. Please message me if you have any for sale that I can pick up.

Thanks,
Jessica

We have black javas that are laying well right now. We're in Hastings, so we're just 20 min south of St. Paul. We have 2 roosters for 20 hens, so fertility has been good. In fact, our broody just hatched out a small clutch on Thanksgiving. Javas are very easy-going birds. They're good foragers and are great dual-purpose birds. Our hens started laying at about 22 weeks and have been consistent even as the days have gotten short. We bought ours as day-old chicks from Duane Urch in Owatonna last spring. Javas are one of the rarest breeds and our interest is in seeing others enjoy them as much as we do.

Let me know if you're interested in testing your incubator with our eggs. We would charge $5.00 for a dozen.

Edited to add: If you'd like to see what the chicks and adults look like, I have pictures on my BYC webpage:
