Ooooo, I just finished reading New York: The Novel by Edward Rutherfurd. It just came out this year, I think. It basically chronicles the history of New York City from its colonization by the Dutch in the early 1600s all the way through to present day, through the eyes of fictional characters. It really was a fascinating book, an easy way to get a history refresher without really trying. You fall in love with the characters and their families and its pretty neat to see how the generations intertwine. Highly recommend it!

I've got a few recommendations for a few historical "smut" books for adults. Very good for a blah in your love life!

Forgot Sara Donati series ... set in early upper NY colonial period ... very good reading. On another grain, I've finished the Nevada Barr's Anna Pigeon mystery series about a National Park ranger ... does a great job of describing the settings of many of National Parks, some well known, others not so much.
