I have a flock of pure bred Bielefelder's that is raise for meat and selling chick and eggs. I also have silver laced wyandottes and black copper marans hens only, what would your thoughts be on crossing my bielefelder roo on the wyandottes and marans? Would the cross be good or should I look for specific roos for each flock? I also have a really beautiful standard Cochin rooster I could cross on the wyadottes and the marans. I would love any thoughts on what the best course would be.

Several years ago, I had kind of a rag tag bunch that were pretty scrawny. I did put a Bielefelder rooster on them, and got a bit heavier chickens with beautiful coloring. It was a goal I had at the time, and I was pleased with the results.

What is your goal?

I sell hatching eggs and chicks in addition to processing some roos for meat.

For selling chicks/hatching eggs, guess it depends on if there's demand or interest in your area/with your customers for crossbred birds.
