Looking for pictures of Marans matching the proposed APA standard

Here's another one of my BC Roo's at 4 mths old. I think his feathering is way too orange. On the chest to. to little feathering on the shanks. I'am sure there's other things,but I'am gonna let him grow out,and see if there's changes for the better.

Your thoughts? Don't think he'll be in the breeding pool. I'll wait,and give him a chance though.

Most of the roos in Jesse's flock arrived here without tails. They had been pecked out by the hens best I could tell. They have been slowly growing them back since I got them.

I have a question to. How much copper on a BC hen is to much? Pics would help if someone has some, Please

I have been told that all large fowl in the APA are required to have 5 points on the comb, but I don't know if that's true or not!

And here's what it says about tails:

Here is a pic of my Davis line hen. She does has feathered legs and red/orange eyes, and a straight comb. She lays a large 5-7 egg pretty consistantly. I will get new pics of my flock tomorrow. I cant wait to hear everyones opinion!

I have a couple of 4 month old cockerels I will get pics of to compare.

Here are some of my original females (and James) - they had just made 6 months old that day.

Note how in the first photo, one has a lot more copper coloring than the other. I have some in Jesse's flock that look solid black.

I like the body type of your hen. I think she could use a little more coppering on the neck feathering though.

I am in no way an expert though. I feel like I'am walking on egg shells giving my opinion.

I would in no way be canibalistic in my comments,or opinions. If I'am wrong feel free to help me understand the your opinion from your eyes. Everyone doesn't see things the same way,and I also miss things.

I also understood that they must have a certain amount of copper to be considered the Black Copper but isn't there also just a Black Marans and how do you tell the difference. As I mentioned, some in Jesse's flock have no copper.

Well the way I see it is if it shows copper it is black copper. If it shows no copper it is considered a Black marans, but like most of us here I am no expert either.

Ruth those hens are VERY beautiful. They look extremely healthy!
