i just got rid of all my beautiful blue laced red wyandottes that were only 2.5 years old because they completely stopped laying - they haven't laid a single egg since august. so i'm ready to start over with the breed i've always raised - even used to show them back when i was young - americaunas. i have ordered them from hatcheries (mcmurray and ideal) in the past, but they were far from what i had as a child - more like mutts, definitely weren't purebred, much less show quality. so i'm wondering if anyone knows where i can purchase purebred americauna chicks or fertile eggs. i've found a few places on-line, but would rather go with some place that is recommended due to previous buyer experience.

thanks y'all!

Most birds that are sold as americaunas are actually easter eggers, which are pretty much mutts that are descended from americaunas and auricaunas. I have been searching for some purebred americaunas too. So far I have found two sources but have not ordered from either.

The two sources are strombergs (in the show quality and show quality bantam section ) and fly babies.

Here are the links...

Hope this helps

Have you looked in the Sale section here? There are several members selling wheaton and b/b/s Ameraucanas, that I can recall right off.

You can also look up the Ameraucana breeder's club/assn, I believe they have a list of breeders.
