Thank you all for your warm welcome! We have our very first eggs this week, only 3 but it is a start! Yes we love the Buff orpingtons, so sweet and curious. Next fav is the Red Star. Also love to be picked up, just on their terms. The olive eggers and Ameraucana are very shy though. Thats okay as long as they lay pretty eggs.

Hello and welcome! My buff orpington is the sweetest one we have too. She will literally jump into your arms.

Aren't they fun! I never thought I would have a chicken as friendly as these two. They live up to their reputation as a family breed. I like their color too. Have you ever had a lavendar orpington? Just curious if they have the same temperament.

Welcome to Backyard Chickens .. Small question you want to incubate eggs did you buy fertile eggs ? no Rooster, no eggs to incubate

Not interested in incubating eggs. We cannot have a Cockrell in my neighborhood, so he had to go. He was a dandy though!
