Looking into ordering female chicks from hatchery; need advice

Hello everyone

I ended up going for some Barrred Rocks' from Cackle Hatchery.
As someone had previously noted; not many options this time of year, and the Barred Rocks were the only ones available.

I am scheduled to receive them some time in June.

I have a spare chicken run in the backyard with their names on it; and the heat lamp just needs the dust blown off of it, feeders ready for another round of chicks.

First time raising pure breeds " Oooo la la " how fancy.

I did do some research on the Barred Rocks and yea, they should work out just fine.

Addendum: I ordered 5 females, 6 arrived. So far all are doing well.

I received the " in the mail" message on the 14th and I received the phone call today.
So it would seem no more than 24 hours

BR was one of my choices, but the Dominiques became available first.

Addendum: I ordered 5 females, 6 arrived. So far all are doing well.

Two of my females weren't, so I got a refund for the cute little boys. I know that bantams are harder to sex. I kept the four pullets, sold the boys.

Cackle. I got my refund, and unloaded the cockerels at an auction.

I'm happy to have the 4 pullets as my Sussex straight run was a 7/3 male to female ratio!
