I’m looking for some quality eggs to hatch for my daughters to show in 4H. In particular my one daughter wants some Buff Orpingtons. Anyone got some good quality chickens they breed for the standard?

There are reputable sellers on ebay has hatching eggs, cackle hatchery has buff orp eggs, I think. also, check craigs list. I would wait until after the holidays to order anything so fragile though.

Ebay is a big gamble. I've spent over $400 on getting O Shamo eggs from there... Still don't have any O Shamo chicks. I would continue to search here or on craigslist for someone local.

Cackle is a choice, but if you want birds breed to Standard, do not order from a hatchery. We got 17 ducks from them. They are all "great" but not SOP great. Just great pets.

There are a few dedicated Orpington threads here. Maybe stop by a couple and ask if anyone there has eggs available. This is a good section to see whats available, but not always good for ISO type posts.

A lady named Tiffany runs http://adifferentchickfarm.com/?page_id=2899 . She does not carry Buff Orps, but does sell good quality fertile eggs. I just recently won an auction (https://www.rarebreedauctions.com/index.php) of hers for 6+ 55 Flowery Hen eggs. I was sent 8, and all 8 are developing.

Best of luck with your search
