looks like the bees found our hummingbird feeder (pic)

I removed my yellow flowers from my hummingbird feeders, and now I don't have a problem with bees anymore. You could try it. Hummers still find the feeders.

thanks for the link. i have always wanted to be a beekeeper. again another reason to get a privacy fence.

i refilled the feeder at 10:41am (no bees)

Obviously those bees are hungry, there mustn't be a flow on right now. I've never had that many on my feeder - and I've got three hives full out back!!

hey Backdoorchicken, I had alot of problems with bees on my hummingbird feeders and an ol' guy gave me a cure. Set one feeder out with an extremely high sugar content, the bees will go for the higher glucose load. then set your other hummer feeders out with the standard 1 in 4 mixture. I then use mint extract on a q-tip and wipe it around the yellow flowers on the humminbird feeder. The mint drives the bees away, but does not affect the hummers. This way the bees get what they need and the hummers can still get all they need.

Thats cool, the world needs all the honey bees we can get!
