I have a flock of 15 assorted chantecler. For the last several weeks I have noticed that at least a few of them have very loose droppings. The color is right, but there are at least two birds that are like this every time I have been able to observe them go. Most of the chickens are having normal droppings. One of the affected birds is just a little less active than normal, but she is also molting a bit. The other affected birds have been behaving perfectly normal. Is this anything to worry about? I was thinking of finding a local vet that could test a sample, but since the birds seem to be acting normally, I thought maybe it wasn't a big deal.

The birds live in a coop that is fairly clean (I think, but don't see many others so it is hard to judge). They have been on the same feed for a while, but give them fruit or greens off and on. It has also been cold here, which might be stressing them out.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

is it the same birds with the loose poo?... or does it rotate?...

every once and a while they will have a loose poo its almost like their system is on a self clean cycle... but the next day their poo is normal.... thats fine... but if its the same hen all the time then i would quarantine the ill chicken

There is a poo chart here somewhere--I'll try and find a link.
They do have what is called a "cecal poo" which is runnier than a normal poo. This is perfectly normal, so if they look good, and the color is good, I wouldn't worry. They do get rather lazy when molting.

Here you go--scroll down to my old post for the poo chart link.

Dar--I put "poo chart" in search, and then find it and copy/paste it. I'm sure there is an easier way, I do that for a lot of things!
