Hi all....how would you treat a loose spur? I noticed my Silkie "Buttercup" limping today and saw that he had dried blood around the base of his right spur. It is wiggly (I gently manipulated it to check) but intact. It almost looks like the spur itself is cracked lengthwise but hard to tell.

I flushed with Vetericyn and applied some triple antibiotic to the base, and am keeping him apart from his rowdy bachelor buddies for the night.

Is this something that might heal up and re-solidify in place? Or, should I go ahead and remove the spur now, since I can control the process (it makes me sick about possibly having to do it; I know it's painful either way). He is unhappy alone and fussing in the garage so he might knock it off anyway.

Thanks in advance!
