I originally thought my original bird had a wing injury. She kept trying to pick under it but couldn’t lift her wing. Now in hindsite all the symptoms were right in front of me. She had blood in her feathers and I could not feel her crop. She kept her eyes closed. Within 6 hours she went from unable to stand to completely paralyzed. It was horrible. I had her put down by the vet. I never ever want that again, I am keeping a very close eye on this one. What is your bird doing?

I posted a video can you see it? No blood on her. She is eating and drinking ok. Just her balance is way off. She looks drunk. She was fine the day before yesterday. Then yesterday was wasn’t as free roaming as normal. Today she is way off

Yes. Just the balance issue. But from the time she had the balance issue to the time she was paralyzed was sooo fast. I’m stumped. Whatever is going on I think your chicken and mine have the same thing. My chickens balance has gotten worse throughout the day. She is closing one eye. My last one did that . Im so confused. I don’t know if this is the same thing or not. I just know that my last one started with balance and I took that as a wing injury. I’m taking this one to the vet tomorrow if she progresses. I will let you know if it’s mereks for sure. I pray it’s not. Can you feel your chickens crop? My last ones crop was completely flat after she ate. I didn’t know that was a symptom till after the fact.

so she was eating a little this am and I pulled her from the flock. I gave her some b vitamins crushed with poly sol infant vitamins mixed in yogurt and scrambled egg. I put nutri drench in her water. She ate about half and her crop was full. I could feel it. Every time she goes to walk or move she stumbles. Only goes backwards when trying to catch herself. Please let me know what your vet says. I am stumped as well I started the summer with 40. Now down to 32. Unsure if any of my flock was vaccinated as most came from the feed store.

How is she this morning? Mine was not worse and had no additional symptoms. She wants to be with the flock even though she can’t walk. This is so confusing. I cancelled her appointment today and I’m going to keep an eye on her.

Mine is way worse. Laying sideways. Definitely paralyzed. Tried to get to the vet and they referred me somewhere else more expensive. Pretty sure it is mareks with how quickly it progressed. Wish I could stop it I don’t want to lose anymore girls!

I took mine to the vet. She said clinically it looks like mareks. She she her reflexes were not responding. She was still so alert. I made the choice to put her down.
