LOS ANGELES county CA under bird quarantine :(

This is such a sad and tragic time for bird owners in Cali. My heart goes out to all. I almost relocated to California 6 or so months back and would have brought my birds with me. I am so relieved I decided to wait! Sadly I have read stories of owners helping the state euthanize their flock. I could not even imagine! I am praying a solution comes around soon for all of you guys! Your in my prayers!

I wondered the same thing when I read this. I wish I knew. There may be answers on the website, but my phone sucks, and navigating it's been difficult. I plan to read more tomorrow at work if I get a break.

i read the website but it basically stated what the OP wrote. I live in Los Angeles county and I have been dreading this day. The area where the found the NVD is about an hour drive away from me so I have some worries.

I’ve been following this closely and I don’t think CDFA got aggressive enough at the very beginning, with many other things than just quarantining.
Such as watching more closely birds coming into California from Mexico and completely shutting down bird exhibitions very early on. Now it’s a year later. It’s bordering on how bad the last outbreak was.
They did the same thing in 2002-3, spent Tens of millions of dollars toodling around for almost a year and then got aggressive.

@lissalischicks they are getting aggressive now, I’m hoping the LA county quarantine is just a precaution. It’s a huge county. They’ve had a big problem with people moving birds around. So I’m hoping they are now just casting a wider net telling people not to move their birds.
Read the press release, they are putting a lot of other measures in too (other than LA county). I’m sure it will be Ok...
