That’s absolutely disgusting!ETA, regarding post 636 (Saturday's rally), CDFA came today to kill her chickens, with a warrant, when the lady was not home. Keep in mind, this lady HAD consented beforehand and was not resisting. She did that so they wouldn't get a warrant. It is her right to have the community there, or the news. Since CDFA did not want to be on the news, they trampled on her rights.
The CDFA isn't liking the publicity and are going to extremes to avoid it. It may backfire, though, since that will make the news too. Soon people will set up volunteer housesitting services to guard homes after CDFA fail to keep appointments. Best thing to do is make sure they (CDFA) aren't notified that there will be publicity. The CDFA needs to change their outdated policies and have an option for people with just a few chickens to test their birds, then keep them in a completely enclosed area until the quarantine is over. Backyard egglayers, that never leave the property, did not cause this epidemic and killing them will provide no solution (or even contribute to one), is senseless and needlessly cruel to the birds and the families that have them. Other bad outcomes are poor PR for all law enforcement agencies, as they victimize law abiding citizens. People will not forget. Backyard chicken owners also contribute to the economy in a major way, I'm sure Tractor Supply is feeling it, as they made a ton of money every year selling everything that goes with having chickens. Things are pretty quiet at the store I go to these days. Even though I am not in the quarantine area and am far from it, the way the Postal Service operates with all the mail from Fresno South going through Los Angeles County, you cannot get chicks from the hatcheries here either. Even the in state hatcheries can't mail anything South of Fresno, though one of them, Belt, is actually driving their chick orders to some feed stores in my town, 100 miles away. But the chicks are expensive because of it.ETA, regarding post 636 (Saturday's rally), CDFA came today to kill her chickens, with a warrant, when the lady was not home.
